Vantage Point Risk was founded in 2021 with a straightforward purpose: give people better options when it comes to insurance, and take care of them like they deserve once they are a client.

Today we serve over 5,000 families and more than 3,000 businesses across the Western United States. We work with individuals, families, and small businesses who want an advisor in their corner, not just a policy number in a system. We also operate Truck Policy Insurance Agency, our dedicated trucking division, built on years of firsthand experience in the industries that keep freight moving.

We are independent, which means we work for you and not for any single insurance company. We shop the market, compare your options across top-rated carriers, and give you a straight answer on what makes sense for your situation. When your policy renews, we are reviewing it. When you have a claim, we are advocating for you. We do not put you on autopilot and hope for the best.

Insurance is a serious thing. We treat it that way.

I help families and businesses make sure that when something goes wrong, they are protected.

I did not start out in insurance. I grew up in Redding, California, moved to Eugene in 1988 to study architecture at the University of Oregon, then transferred to Oregon State and earned degrees in mechanical engineering and business management. I spent years in the wood products and waste and recycling industries. Engineer, project manager, director of operations, sales manager, field manager. I have worn a lot of hats.

What drew me to insurance was pretty simple. I could take everything I had learned about running operations and solving problems and use it to actually help people. That turned out to be true.

I got my start as an Allstate agency owner, purchasing an established book of business from an agent who had spent 32 years building it. I learned a lot in those two and a half years. I also learned the limits of working as a captive agent. When you only have one set of products to offer, you cannot always do right by your clients. That bothered me. So I went independent.

Going independent meant I could work for my clients instead of for a carrier. Today my team and I have access to dozens of top-rated insurance companies, which means we can find the right fit for each situation rather than forcing a square peg into a round hole. We do not stop when we find a better price. We stop when we are confident the coverage is right and that when something happens, the policy is actually going to do its job.

One area where that background paid off in a specific way is trucking. After years working in wood products and waste and recycling, I understood what it actually took to be a trucker. What they go through day to day, what it takes to get loads picked up and shipped, and what is at stake when something goes wrong on the road. That experience is why we built Truck Policy Insurance Agency as a dedicated trucking division. We do not just sell trucking insurance. We understand the business behind it.

I am married and have a 16-year-old son who keeps us busy. He competes in track and field in the 100, 200, 400, 4×100, 4×400, and long jump, and he is a goalkeeper for South Eugene High School and EMFC. Outside the office I am usually somewhere outdoors. Camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, scuba diving. We love to travel. Eugene and the Pacific Northwest are home. We explore it, protect it, and respect it. That is not just something we say.

People sometimes laugh when I tell them I love what I do for a living. Insurance is not exactly a glamorous answer. But to me it has never really been about insurance. It is about the people who need it. Every day we get to work with families and business owners who need someone in their corner. I genuinely like solving their problems. I like making sure that when something goes wrong, they are covered. That is the job. I think it matters.
